

Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, Hemostasis Biochemistry (#GB10-116)
Catalyst Biosciences is searching for a highly driven and talented research associate to join the Assay Development Group. The successful candidate will be involved in the characterization of therapeutically relevant proteases from the hemophilia discovery platform. Responsibilities will include the development and execution of biochemical and biophysical assays to evaluate the functional properties of these proteases. The selected candidate will have an exciting opportunity to interact with multidisciplinary teams dedicated to the discovery of novel protease therapeutics in a fast paced organization.
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in biochemistry (or other relevant fields) with 2-5 years of industry work experience
- Demonstrated experience in an assay development environment using a variety of protein chemistry, enzyme kinetic, biochemical and biophysical techniques
- Strong written and oral communication skills are required
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative and highly innovative work environment
- The ability to work independently and meet aggressive timelines
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- Industrial experience, and/or experience in a drug-discovery environment
- Prior experience with the analysis and characterization of proteases and protease-inhibitor interactions
- Familiarity with enzymes in the coagulation/fibrinolysis cascades
- Knowledge and hands-on experience in applying modern biophysical and analytical techniques, such as fluorescence spectroscopy and Surface Plasmon Resonance
