

Research Associate/Sr. Research Associate, Protein Sciences (BH10-118)
The RA/SRA will report to a Staff Scientist within the Protein Sciences group and will primarily be focused on protein production for pre-clinical studies. One aspect of the position will focus on protein purification using semi-automated GE AKTA chromatography systems from the lab to pilot scale. Other aspects include all downstream tasks such as formulation, aliquoting, database entry, and quality analysis. The position will require the ability to rapidly develop and implement experimentation to address encountered problems and increase efficiency while simultaneously keeping up with the incoming workload. This is an all-encompassing position where the employee will contribute at all levels to the workload -- from buffer preparation and ordering, to experimental design. Common skills/techniques required: ELISAs, Western blotting, SDS-PAGE with Coomassie and silver staining, fluorogenic enzyme assays, all types of chromatography.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry or relevant field
- 4-8 years of industrial experience preferred
- Working knowledge of the principles of protein expression and purification
- Mastery of general laboratory techniques
- Focused attention to detail
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as part of highly coordinated small sub-group
- Strong work ethic and willingness to take on challenging and often time-consuming tasks
Preference given to candidates with one or more of the following:
- Experience with AKTA systems and its Unicorn software
- Competence and experience with ELISAs
- Experience working with mammalian cell culture
